Palm Beach Location
Perfectly positioned on Jamaica's north coast between Montego Bay and Ocho Rios, Runaway Bay is one of the island's best-kept secrets - quieter and less developed than its neighbours, with some of the most beautiful stretches of white sand on the island. Originally part of the grounds of 18th century Unity House, Palm Beach occupies a prime position on this coastline, with a private beach and easy access to everything Jamaica's north coast has to offer.
The Beach
Runaway Bay's calm, clear waters and soft white sand sit directly in front of the resort. Sheltered from the open ocean, the bay is ideal for swimming, snorkelling and watersports. World-class diving is just a stone-throw from the shore. Puerto Seco Beach Club is a short drive away for those wanting a change of scene - a well-kept public beach with facilities, popular with locals and visitors alike.
Ocho Rios
Jamaica's most visited north coast town is around thirty minutes east of Palm Beach, and worth the drive. The energy is louder and the streets busier than Runaway Bay, but the food and the attractions more than make up for it. Scotchie's, the north coast outpost of Jamaica's most famous jerk restaurant, is reason enough to go. Mama T's is a quieter, more local spot for authentic Jamaican cooking done properly.
Dunn's River Falls
One of Jamaica's most iconic natural landmarks can be climbed in around an hour. Dolphin Cove and Mystic Mountain, with its rainforest bobsled run and aerial tram, are both popular with families and groups. Your butler can arrange this excursion with transport and tickets for anything you'd like to do.
Golf
Several of Jamaica's finest courses are within reach of Palm Beach. Sandals Golf and Country Club in Ocho Rios offers elevated fairways with sweeping views of the coast. Cinnamon Hill Golf Course at Rose Hall near Montego Bay is one of the Caribbean's most scenic layouts, built around a historic great house with ocean views throughout. Your butler can arrange tee times and transport.
The Blue Mountains
Further afield but well worth the journey, Jamaica's Blue Mountains rise steeply above Kingston and offer a completely different side of the island. The Craighton Estate coffee tour takes you through a working plantation where some of the world's most sought-after coffee is grown, harvested and processed - followed by a tasting(of course!). A full-day excursion; your butler can arrange everything.
